Southern Miss Baseball Travels to Fort Worth for Three-Game Weekend Series at TCU

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss baseball team continues its five-game road swing with a three-game weekend series at nationally ranked TCU, starting Friday at 6 p.m. from Lupton Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas.

The game can be seen via ESPN+, as well as heard on an affiliate of the Southern Miss Sports Network.

The series pits a pair of nationally ranked teams with the Golden Eagles placed as high as No. 19 and the Horned Frogs as high as No. 21, both listed in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll.

The two schools play for the first time in 20 seasons when they were both part of Conference USA. Southern Miss leads the series 12-6, having won 11 of the first 12 meetings dating back to 1994.

Southern Miss (7-2) looks to snap a two-game losing streak that includes a 15-8 setback at Ole Miss. Following a 4-2 victory Tuesday over Tarleton State, TCU enters the weekend at 6-2.

Through the first nine games, the Golden Eagles continue to rank nationally in three offensive categories, including seventh in doubles (25), sixth in sacrifice flies (8) and No 20 in doubles per game (2.78).

The Golden Eagles are currently led by Joey Urban offensively with a .385 batting average, with Ozzie Pratt ranking second at .375 followed by Davis Gillespie at .353 and Nick Monistere at .290. Gillespie also paces the squad in runs batted in with 13, while Carson Paetow ranks second at 10.

Following the TCU series, Southern Miss completes the road swing with a Tuesday matchup at Mississippi State. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
