Golden Eagles Wrap Up Beach Burg Invitational with 4-1 Victory Over Spring Hill

<strong>HATTIESBURG, Miss. – </strong>Southern Miss beach volleyball collected its first win of the 2025 season with a 4-1 victory over Spring Hill on Saturday night at the Southern Miss Beach Volleyball Complex. The win was the final of 13 matches played in Hattiesburg over the weekend in the Beach Burg Invitational, where the Golden Eagles finished 1-4.<br />

Overall, Laurel Dennis and Sadie McAda finished the day 3-0, winning all three matches at the second flight for Southern Miss<br />

<strong>No. 6 Florida State 4, Southern Miss 1</strong><br />
Southern Miss' first match of the day came against No. 6 Florida State (4-0). Southern Miss' first wave of play pushed the top-ten Seminoles to the edge as Ryann Thomas and Giovanna Gurgel Bahia took the Seminole fives to three sets before falling 15-9.<br />

Laurel Dennis and Sadie McAda collected their first win of the day over the Seminoles' No. 2 pairing, winning 23-21 in the decisive second set. The Golden Eagles were unable to top the Seminoles elsewhere as Southern Miss fell to Florida State 4-1.<br />

The Golden Eagles' path to victory did not get easier as Southern Miss took on No. 8 LSU (4-1) immediately after dropping their opening match to No. 6 Florida State.<br />
<br />
LSU swept the first wave, winning in two sets at all pairings 4-6. In wave two, Southern Miss' top flight Madison Cassidy and Zuzanna Michalska took the Tigers' to three sets before dropping the 15-10 deciding set. Dennis and McAda, though, were able to hold on for a three-set victory of their own, winning 15-10 in the third to move to 2-0 on the day.<br />

The Golden Eagles ended the night with a match against Spring Hill (0-2) and made quick work of the Sandy Badgers in the first wave. Southern Miss swept the first two scoring pairs and exhibition, winning all three in three and highlighted by Jaden White and Kitija Martini Adamsone coming back after a 30-28 first set loss to win at the fourth pair.<br />
<br />
Dennis/McAda swept the twos and Dylan Russell and Y-Nhu Do swept the twos to set the score at 4-0 in favor of Southern Miss. Spring Hill salvaged the first position, winning in two sets to set the final score at 4-1.<br />
<br />
The win marked the sixth-straight victory over Spring Hill by Southern Miss and moved the Golden Eagles' all-time record to 9-7 against the Sandy Badgers.<br />
