
Women's Tennis Begins Road Stretch Against Southeastern Louisiana

HATTIESBURG, Miss.-The Southern Miss women's tennis team (3-1, 0-0 Sun Belt) begins a three-game road stand, starting with a 2 p.m. match against Southeastern Louisiana (5-1, 0-0 Southland) Friday in Hammond, La.
The Golden Eagles secured a thrilling 4-3 win over Nicholls on Sunday at home, preserving an undefeated 3-0 record in Hattiesburg this season, the program's best start at home since the 2021-2022 season.
Southern Miss won Sunday's match, fueled by another strong doubles performance and key singles victories from Miranda Xu, Sakura Sudo and Gagana Mohan Kumar. With the match tied at 3-3, Sudo sealed the win with a third-set victory on court four, marking her second match-clinching win of the season.
The Golden Eagles will clash against a Southeastern team that has won four consecutive matches and holds a 4-1 home record this season. The Lions last won on Friday in a 7-0 sweep against Louisiana Christian.
The pair of Bente Bierma and Panatchakorn Suanarsa have led the Lions with a 5-1 standing in doubles play, while Leana Gomez has won four consecutive singles points on court one with a team-best 5-1 record.
Southern Miss last met Southeastern Louisiana at home last season on January 28, winning in a 5-1 decision. The Golden Eagles also won on their last trip to Hammond in 2021, blanking the Lions 4-0.
