
Women's Tennis Falls 4-1 at Southeastern Louisiana

HAMMOND, La.-The Southern Miss women's tennis team opened its three-match road swing with a 4-1 loss to Southeastern on Friday afternoon.
Southern Miss' outing was highlighted by Sakura Sudo's performance in singles action, as she secured the lone point for Southern Miss with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Claudia Di Leonardo. Sudo also notched a commanding doubles win with teammates Miranda Xu in a 6-0 sweep.
The Lions gained an early advantage by winning two of the three doubles matches, snapping Southern miss' five-match streak of securing the doubles point. The Golden Eagles put up a fight, with Hannah Chambers and Malannia Vashkevich battling in a 7-5 contest in the No. 1 doubles spot.
The singles matches featured several close contests, including Jordan Parker coming short of forcing a third set in a 6-2, 7-5 decision.
With the loss, Southern Miss drops to 3-2 on the season as they continue their non-conference slate. The Golden Eagles will look to bounce back quickly as they continue their road stretch with a matchup at Lamar on Sunday at 10 a.m.
