Women's Golf Tees Off Their Spring Season at Great River Cup

HATTIESBURG, Miss. --Â The Southern Miss women's golf team will compete in the Great River Cup at Windance Country Club on Monday and Tuesday. The two-day event in Gulfport will be a match play tournament.Â
The event will be the first for the Golden Eagles this semester. It's the second consecutive year that they will compete in the match play event, while ULM took the title in 2024. The first round will take place Monday morning with semifinals being held Monday afternoon. The championship round will be held Tuesday morning.Â
Southern Miss is paired against Memphis in the first round and will play either James Madison or Middle Tennessee in the second round. The other side of the bracket features ULM, Utah Valley, Little Rock and Arkansas State.Â

The Golden Eagles make their first appearance in tournament play since winning The Judson at Hattiesburg Country Club in late October. Taylor Trible and Louise Cuyvers posted top-five finishes in the event, while Trible finished runner-up with a pair of under-par rounds. Trible lowered her season stroke average to a team-best 73.8. Among golfers that competed in all five fall events, Elena Melich leads the team in stroke average at 74.3 strokes per round. Melich finished in sixth at The Judson, as did Alma Betoret.Â
