Southern Miss is slated to travel eight student-athletes Hannah Chambers, Kamornwan Kornsila, Sakura Sudo, Miranda Xu, Gagana Mohan Kumar, Celine Mosteanu, Pimmada Lim, and Mia Hisashi-Morrissey. Head coach Piyanart Engineer and assistant coach Abhijeet Tiwari will guide the group through opening-day doubles and Round-of-64 singles.
Doubles take center stage on Day 1, and the Eagles will roll out multiple tandems. Seeded pair Hannah Chambers and Kamornwan Kornsila enter directly into the main draw and open in the afternoon session. Pimmada Lim and Mia Hisashi-Morrissey draw Samford in the early afternoon start, while Gagana Mohan Kumar and Celine Mosteanu face North Alabama in the same window. Later in the day, Miranda Xu and Sakura Sudo meet another North Alabama duo. With no-ad pressure and tight turnarounds, quick holds, clean first volleys, and decisive middle poaches will be at a premium.
In singles, Sakura Sudo opens main-draw play in the Round of 64 against Alabama's seeded Klara Milicevic, setting an early test against a top regional opponent. Several Golden Eagles are slated for morning starts with potential same-day second rounds, which places an emphasis on first-serve percentage, return depth through the middle, and efficient between-match resets. The tournament also offers consolation opportunities throughout the week, ensuring valuable match play for the full roster.
Across the board, Southern Miss will look to pair first-strike patterns on serve with composed shot selection in long exchanges, leaning on depth and discipline to manage no-ad points and compressed schedules. With multiple draws unfolding in parallel, the Eagles expect to stack quality reps, test pairings, and chase main-draw wins as the week progresses in Auburn.
