
Southern Miss Remains Undefeated After Southern Miss Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss.- The Southern Miss Golden Eagles remain undefeated with a 3-0 win against Southern on Saturday afternoon in Hattiesburg.

The Golden Eagles came out strong, with a kill from Izyy Kronenberg and a solo stuff block from Madison Baldridge to make the score 2-0.

The Lady Jags respond well, keeping it neck and neck throughout the set. Fierce offensive plays  by Torrey Tkach, Aysu Dalogullari and Sadie McAda helped the Golden Eagles add pressure to the Lady Jags.

The set ended in a three-point run from the Golden Eagles, including a kill from Kronenberg and a service ace from Franky Panunzio to finish the set 25-18.

The second set opens again with close competition.
Â
The Golden Eagles capitalized on service errors from the Lady Demons. Brynn Botkin makes her mark with a kill directly following a service ace at the end of the set.

While the Lady Demons kept up, the Golden Eagles were too far ahead, taking set two 25-20.
Â
Set three had both teams continuously trading points back and forth in the beginning, similar to the previous sets.

Hayden Riddle anchors the offense for the Golden Eagles in the third set, allowing the entire front row to score in multiple plays. Â Botkin, McAda and Tkach all score kills from Riddle in the first half of the set.

Lillie Johnson checks in for the Golden Eagles and makes her presence known with three kills in the set's second half.
Â
Libero Sunni Sheppard made it challenging for the Lady Jags to score with great defensive plays and a service ace.
Â
With a neck-and-neck set that extends to 26-25, Kallie Siebrasse closes out the match with a final kill to end with a 27-25 set win, sweeping the Lady Jags in three sets.

Kronenberg finished with the most kills at 9, while Riddle had 23 assists. Baldridge and Tkach both each have a solo stuff block. Sunni Sheppard finishes the match with 17 digs.

The Golden Eagles advance to 3-0 (0-0 SBC), while Southern drops to 0-3 (0-0 SWAC).

Following the match, an all-tournament team was announced.

Sadie McAda earned tournament MVP recognition after finishing with 40 kills.
Â
Aysu Dalogullari and Sunni Sheppard are also named to the all-tournament team.

The Golden Eagles travel to Missoula, Montana, to play in the Ellesyn Invitational. The first game will be played Friday, September 6, against Utah Valley at 2 p.m. CT (1 p.m. MT).
