Volleyball Travels to Mississippi State for Exhibition Match

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss Volleyball will play the first of their two scheduled exhibition matches on Saturday, Aug. 15 at 2 p.m. in Starkville, Miss.
The Golden Eagles are coming off a 17-12 overall record in 2025 while going 8-8 during Sun Belt Conference play.
Jenny Hazelwood is entering her fifth season as the head coach of Southern Miss Volleyball. Over the past four seasons, Hazelwood has guided the squad to a 59-60 overall record, including a 30-33 mark in conference play.
Southern Miss returns the majority of its roster from a season ago, including a pair of all-conference performers. First-team outside hitter Sadie McAda and third-team libero Suni Sheppard both return for their senior year in the black and gold. During the 2025 season McAda ranked fourth in the Sun Belt with 387 kills (3.79 per set) while Sheppard racked up the third most digs per set with 4.40 (449 total).
The Golden Eagles also return postseason starters, senior Maggie Sewell, and juniors Aubrey Judd, and Elly Stewart. The rest of the returning cast includes juniors Kaylle Lowther, Lindsey Smith, Lillie Johnson and Morgan Durgens, and sophomores Sophie Sosa, Tarah Yunes, Ella Ward, Diana Wells and Miranda Holincheck.
Southern Miss will also welcome four newcomers to the roster, including senior transfer Allie Hazelwood, who joins the Golden Eagles from the University of Southern California, as well as freshmen Reese Warren (North Bay Haven Charter Academy), Bennet Boulo (Saint Paul's Episcopal School) and Alyssa Dampier (Madison-Ridgeland Academy).
Mississippi State ended their 2025 campaign with a 16-10 overall record while going 6-9 during SEC play. The last time these two programs met was Sep. 14, 2025, in Hattiesburg, Miss. where the Bulldogs came away with the 3-1 victory.
