MACON, Ga. – Southern Miss women's golf is in third after 36 holes at the Brickyard Collegiate at Brickyard Golf Club in Macon, Ga. The Golden Eagles were paced by Jacee Fields who is tied for third after going three-over par on Monday. Southern Miss is in third place with Mercer and UAB leading the pack.
To go along with her impressive start, Fields was the only player in the 52-person field to have an eagle. Her eagle came in the second round on the par-five ninth hole - she had a par in the previous round. Taylor Trible joined Fields in the top-10 after firing an even-par 72 in the second round. The sophomore produced a four-over 76 in the first round and came back with four birdies in her afternoon round.
Merche Corbacho is right behind Fields and Trible after finishing tied for 10th on Monday. Corbacho enjoyed a one-over 73 in the first round and then shot a four-over 76 in the afternoon session. Elena Melich and Ragini Navet are both tied for 20th, while Melich had a two-over 74 in the second round. Momoka Ando is tied for 33rd following a four-over 76 after she shot a nine-over 81 in the opening round.
The final round tees off on Tuesday morning with an 8 a.m. CST shotgun start. The Golden Eagles will send golfers off the first five holes, while Navet and Corbacho go off 16 and 17, respectively.
