Fields Shoots Career Low as Golden Eagles Finish in Fourth at ULM Invitational

MONROE, La. – Southern Miss women's golf finished in fourth place at the ULM Invitational on Tuesday after firing the 15th lowest 54-hole team total in program history. The Golden Eagles were paced by Jacee Fields' fifth-place finish at Bayou Desiard Country Club.
"It's pretty special when everyone gets on the road and even better when there are some low scores thrown in," said head coach Lucy Nunn Burke. "Really proud of Jacee for stepping up and letting her hard work shine. And truly everyone battled this week, and we seem to be trending in the right direction."
Southern Miss' 883 team total was the lowest by a Golden Eagle squad since the fall of 2022. They shot a 295 during Tuesday's round to finish two strokes off of ULM in third place. Sam Houston State took home the team title with an 860, while Arkansas State claimed second with an 879.
Fields, who was in first place heading into the final round, shot a three-over 75 on Tuesday. Her 213 54-hole total was a career best, as was her fifth-place finish. Her 54-hole total was tied for the fourth lowest in program history and was the lowest since Momoka Ando set the record earlier this year with a 207 at the Hoover Classic.
Elena Melich's 10th-place finish was the best by any Golden Eagle contributing to the team score. She fired a two-over 74 during the final round to finish with a 217 54-hole total. Ando finished in a tie for 15th after posting an even-par 72 today and Ragini Navet fired a five-over 79 to tie her 54-hole career low at 220.
Alma Betoret, Taylor Trible, Merche Corbacho and Fernanda Gorostiaga all finished tied for 33rd. Betoret and Gorostiaga both fired a one-over 73 today, while Trible shot a two-over 74.
Southern Miss returns to the links on April 8 for the Mercer Invitational. The two-day event will be played at The Brickyard Golf Club.
