Pair of Golden Eagles Post Historic Scores at ULM Invitational

MONROE, La. – With Jacee Fields holding onto first place through two rounds of the ULM Invitational at Bayou Desiard Country Club, freshman Ragini Navet shot the second-lowest single-round total in program history on Monday morning. The Golden Eagles are in fourth place as a team with the final round looming on Tuesday.
Fields started her day with a two-under 70 and then flipped it into a four-under 68 during Monday's second round. She drained nine birdies, including seven in the second round and did so on hole 12 in both rounds. Meanwhile, Navet fired a five-under 67 in the morning round and sat in first place through one round. Her six birdies propelled her to the lowest round since Julie Baker's program-best 65 at the 2017 Carey Collegiate.
Navet then fired a two-over 74 in the second round to slide into a tie for fourth heading into the final round. Elena Melich joined her two teammates inside the top-10 after a three-under 69 and two-over 74. She is tied for eighth after recording seven birdies on the day. Momoka Ando is in a tie for 19th after a four-over 76 in the first round. Ando bounced back with a one-under 71 that was paired with four birdies.
Merche Corbacho is tied for 33rd after a five-over 77 and a one-over 73. Taylor Trible started her day with a two-over 74 and ended with a four-over 78 to sit in a tie for 44th. Both Alma Betoret and Fernanda Gorostiaga are tied for 47th.
Sam Houston State leads Arkansas State by six strokes. The Golden Eagles are 10 strokes back on Sam Houston State and one stroke back of third-place Samford. Troy is two strokes behind Southern Miss after the Golden Eagles shot a 588 through the first two rounds. Fields holds a one-stroke lead on Madison Le of UT Arlington.
