Outdoor Track and Field Set to Hold its Invite Friday and Saturday

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss Outdoor Track and Field squad returns to action this week as they host their own Invite at the Marshall Bell Track and Field/Soccer Complex, Friday and Saturday.

This will be the third event of the spring for the Golden Eagles, and the squad has posted 13th first-place finishes this spring. That number includes five wins from senior Jada McDougle (Decatur, Miss.), who has won a pair 100-meter races, as well as be a part of the 4x100 relay squad with Trinity Flagler, Savi'a Varnell and Trinity Benson. McDougle also won a 200-meter race.

Two other Golden Eagles have captured a pair of first-place finishes as well including Kaya Ludgood in the hammer throw and Jelese Alexander in the women's high jump.

Jared Williams won in the 110-meters, De'Aundre Ward has won a long jump event and Austin Bourne in the 1500-meters on the men's side, while Emme Bates won in the 800 meters.

The event starts Friday at 3 p.m., with the triple jump, hammer and javelin events for both the men and women. On Saturday, the field events begin at 10 a.m., before the track events get going at 12:10 p.m.
