HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss (4-5, 0-1 Sun Belt) women's tennis returns to action on Saturday morning in Sun Belt play as the Golden Eagles host No. 67 Old Dominion (5-5, 1-0 Sun Belt) at 10 a.m. They will then host James Madison (5-5, 1-0 Sun Belt) on Sunday at 10 a.m. Admission to both matches at the Southern Miss Tennis Complex is free.
The Golden Eagles are coming off a hard-fought battle against Texas State last weekend, which also served as the conference opener. The Bobcats, though, took the match 4-1 to halt a potential Southern Miss winning streak. Suhana Das has a team-best 4-1 record and has picked up a singles point in three of Southern Miss' last four matches.
Old Dominion heads into Saturday's contest with a 5-5 mark and won its lone Sun Belt match, 5-2, over Marshall. Outside of a win over the Thundering Herd, the Monarchs have wins over No. 47 VCU, Penn State and two over Iowa State. Lidiia Rasskouskaia has a team-high eight wins, while two other Monarchs have six each.
James Madison, Sunday's opponent, will head to Hattiesburg after visiting South Alabama on Saturday. The Dukes have recorded five wins this season over Drake, App State, Radford, Howard and Northern Illinois. Daria Munteanu and Ines Oliveira lead James Madison with five wins.
