NEW ORLEANS – Momoka Ando jumped up seven spots to finish in 11th, while Ragini Navet jumped 25 spots to finish in the top-50 of the Tulane Classic presented by Chad Brownstein. The Golden Eagles finished in 13th as a team.
"Frustrated at a missed opportunity this week, but at the same time really proud of how our group rallied being a player down," said head coach Lucy Nunn Burke. "Just proof that we are gritty and tougher than our circumstances."
Ando's day started with a birdie on her second hole and then played par golf for a majority of her round. She added another birdie on the back nine as she shot a two-over 74. Navet, who started the day in 69th, used an even-par 72 to climb into a tie for 44th. Navet had three birdies on the day and limited herself to only three bogies.
Elena Melich finished in a tie for 30th after firing a five-over 77 to finish out the three-day event. She finished four strokes behind Ando on the leaderboard. Alma Betoret ended her tournament with a six-over 78 to finish in a tie for 55th. Merche Corbacho finished in 88th and Taylor Trible was unable to play the final two rounds due to injury.
The Golden Eagles will have a quick turnaround as they travel to Saddlebrooke, Ariz. for the Mountainview Collegiate at The Preserve Golf Club. The three-day event starts this Friday and runs through Sunday.
