
Golden Eagles Travel to Baton Rouge for Tiger Beach Challenge

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss beach volleyball travels to Baton Rouge for the two-day Tiger Beach Challenge on the campus of LSU. The Golden Eagles second full competition will take place on Saturday, March 2, and Sunday, March 3, with all matches taking place at the LSU Beach Volleyball Stadium.

Southern Miss and Houston Christian have met once before in the 2022 season with Southern Miss taking a 3-2 win at Tulane's White Sands courts.
The Huskies are off to a 1-3 start to the year after beating Central Arkansas 4-1 and falling 5-0 to LSU, Washington and TCU. HCU is led by Cameron Sitler who is in his seventh season in Houston. Sitler led the group to a 17-18 finish last year and 5-1 in the Southland.
Game 6 | Southern Miss (2-2, 1-0 Sun Belt) vs. (RV) Tulane (5-0, 0-0 C-USA)

Southern Miss faces Tulane for the 15th time in program history and is looking for its first win over the Green Wave. Tulane and head coach Eyal Zimet have built a dominant program in Uptown and finished last season 24-10 and fell to FIU in the Conference USA Tournament.
Zimet is 76-36 at Tulane and has started the year 5-0 to begin the 2024 campaign. The Green Wave swept through its competition at the Green Wave Invitational, beating Southeastern, Oregon, Stephen F. Austin, North Alabama and Spring Hill.
Game 7 | Southern Miss (2-2, 1-0 Sun Belt) vs. (RV) Texas A&M Corpus Christi (3-1, 2-0 Southland)

Southern Miss and Texas A&M – Corpus Christi meet for the fifth time in either program's history with the Islanders holding a 4-0 advantage so far. The two last played at Arizona's Bear Down Beach last season with A&M-CC taking a 4-1 win.
Corpus is coming off a season which earned the Islanders a berth to the NCAA Tournament and ended at the hands of No. 1 UCLA. TAMUCC finished last year 25-10, setting a new high-water mark for head coach Gayle Stammer. Stammer is in her eighth season in Corpus Christi and has led the Islander to back-to-back 20-win seasons for the firt time in school history.
The Islanders are off to a 3-1 start, falling to No. 20 Cal Poly before routing Southland foes Nicholls and McNeese along with Tarleton State.

The Beach Bears are led by first-year head coach John Newberry, a 2004 UCA graduate. Newberry is still looking for his first win as a head coach as the Beach Bears are off to an 0-4 start after a tough slate at the Third Coast Classic last weekend.
