Women's Golf Heads to Windance Country Club for Great River Cup

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss women's golf team opens its spring schedule at Windance Country Club for the Great River Cup. The two-day event in Gulfport will feature a match play format.
The eight-team field features Southern Miss, Georgia State, Houston Christian, James Madison, Little Rock, Memphis, ULM and UAB. ULM and Southern Miss finished first and second at The Judson, the Golden Eagles' last event of the fall.
Lucy Nunn Burke tabbed Elena Melich, Taylor Trible, Momoka Ando, Alma Betoret and Fernanda Gorostiaga to her lineup for the event. Merche Corbacho will play as individual. Ando leads the Southern Miss squad with a 72.1 stroke average this season and has the second-most career rounds played on the team behind Melich.
Melich is averaging 74.3 strokes per round. Southern Miss is matched up against Little Rock in the first round of match play and will play either ULM or UAB in Monday's afternoon round. The final round will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday.
