Women's Golf Eyes Strong Tuesday at Great River Cup

GULFPORT, Miss. – Trio of Golden Eagles pick up match play wins on Monday at the Great River Cup in Gulfport. The second round was suspended due to darkness at Windance Country Club and will resume on Tuesday morning.
Taylor Trible beat Fehild Graesel of Little Rock in the opening round thanks to three birdies, including two in a three-hole stretch. Alma Betoret added two birdies in her opening-round loss and Momoka Ando added one. The Golden Eagles lost to Little Rock and were bumped into the consolation bracket against UAB.
Elena Melich enjoyed a win against the Blazers before running out of sunlight after a par on hole seven to clinch it. Betoret and Ando both dropped their matches to the Blazers, while Trible and Fernanda Gorostiaga will resume play in the morning. Both are leading their respective matches with Trible up three through 14 holes. Gorostiaga is up two through 13 holes.
Playing as an individual, Merche Corbacho cruised to a win over Viktoria Krnacova of Little Rock to move onto the winner's bracket. Corbacho was paired up with UAB's Ava Schwartz and drained a pair of birdies in a three-hole stretch.
Play will resume on Tuesday at approximately 7 a.m. The final round will begin at the conclusion of the second round.
