Lady Eagles Open Four-Game Homestand Against James Madison

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss women's basketball returns home to Reed Green Coliseum looking to snap a six-game skid after playing five-out-of-six games away from home over the past month. The Lady Eagles take on the Dukes at 6 p.m. tomorrow, Jan. 11, at Reed Green Coliseum for the second overall meeting between the two programs.

Southern Miss (7-6, 0-3 Sun Belt) suffered its sixth loss on the year and extended its losing streak to six-consecutive games, dating back to Dec. 10, after a 68-62 loss at Old Dominion. The Lady Eagles look completely out of the game 15 minutes in as Old Dominion jumped out to a 20-point lead.
Southern Miss was able to close the gap and even led with as few as five minutes remaining in the game. The Monarchs, though, proved too tough to crack as they held on to win late at Chartway Arena.
ABOUT JAMES MADISON
The Dukes are out to a 3-0 start in Sun Belt Conference play and sit at 11-4 overall after a 77-72 overtime win over Louisiana. Sean O-Regan is in his eighth year as the head man in Harrisonburg and sports an overall record of 168-67 in that time.
JMU is one of the country's best rebounding teams, averaging 47.87 boards per game, ranking fifth in the category, and outrebounding opponents by 14.1 rebounds per game. The Dukes also play solid defense, holding foes to 63.3 points per game and 35.7 percent from the floor.
Second-year Duke and Moscow, Russia, native Kseniia Kozlova leads the Dukes' scoring efforts with 12.5 points per game. She is joined by Jamia Hazel (12.0) and Peyton McDaniel (11.5) as one of three JMU starters to average double figure scoring efforts.
McDaniel also paces the team on the boards with 7.3 per game. Six Dukes average four-or-more rebounds a game to help the Dukes reach their astronomic rebounding mark. More impressively, Kozlova connects on 62.2 percent of her field goal attempts – the 17th-best mark in the nation and best in the Sun Belt.

Southern Miss and James Madison have met just once before – last year in Sun Belt Conference play at Reed Green Coliseum. JMU took the first game of the series in a 63-54 to take a 1-0 series lead.
Thursday's game will be the second overall meeting between the two programs with both coming under the Sun Belt Conference banner.

Southern Miss stays at home to host South Alabama on Saturday, Jan. 13, marking the 37th all-time meeting between the two schools on Highway 98. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. at Reed Green Coliseum.
