Sun Belt Releases 2026-27 Women’s Basketball Conference Slate

NEW ORLEANS – Southern Miss Women's Basketball learned its opponents in the Lady Eagles' 18-game conference slate as announced by the Sun Belt Conference today. The Lady Eagles will open Sun Belt play on Wednesday, Dec. 16, in the first of nine home conference games. Southern Miss also plays nine road contests before ending the regular season at home on Friday, Feb. 26.
"The Sun Belt is a tough conference with so many great teams and coaches," said second-year head coach Missy Bilderback. "This season's schedule brings some incredible matchups to Reed Green Coliseum, and we can't wait for our fans to experience the energy. We believe in this team and are very excited about our roster. We can't wait to see what this group accomplishes together."
Southern Miss' first conference test comes at Reed Green Coliseum against South Alabama on Wednesday, Dec. 16. Splitting the week, Southern Miss travels to Norfolk, Virginia, to take on Old Dominion at Chartway Arena.
Sun Belt play picks up again after the Christmas holidays with a Thursday, Dec. 31, matchup against App State in Hattiesburg and a Saturday, Jan. 2, meeting against the 2025-26 Sun Belt regular season champions in Georgia Southern. The Lady Eagles face their first road test of 2027 with a two-game swing beginning on Wednesday, Jan. 6, at James Madison and finishing on Saturday, Jan. 9, at Coastal Carolina.
Another two-game home stand interrupts a string of road contests as Southern Miss plays host to Troy on Wednesday, Jan. 13, and ULM on Saturday, Jan. 16. The Lady Eagles take on South Alabama for the second time on Wednesday, Jan. 20, to kickoff a four-game road stretch beginning in Mobile, Alabama. Game two of the trip is set for Saturday, Jan. 23, in Lafayette, Louisiana, against Louisiana.
Thursday, Jan. 28, sees Southern Miss head to Ruston, Louisiana, to take on Sun Belt newcomer and old Conference USA rival Louisiana Tech. The road swing ends on Saturday, Jan. 30, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, against Arkansas State.
Southern Miss returns home to take on Louisiana for the second time on Saturday, Feb. 6, and enjoy a three-game stretch at Reed Green Coliseum. Southern Miss then takes on Arkansas State on Thursday, Feb. 11, and Louisiana Tech on Saturday, Feb. 13.
The final road games of the season see Southern Miss head to Troy, Alabama, for a Wednesday, Feb. 17, meeting against Troy and a final road test in Monroe, Louisiana, against ULM.
The 2026-27 regular season closes on Friday, Feb. 26, against Georgia State in Hattiesburg and will serve as Southern Miss' final game before heading to Pensacola, Florida, for the 2027 Sun Belt Confrence Women's Basketball Championship. The seven-round Sun Belt Tournament opens on Tuesday, March 2, with the Sun Belt's automatic bid to the 2027 NCAA Tournament up for grabs in the Sun Belt Championship Game on Monday, March 8.
