Cross Country Slated for Annual Chile Pepper Festival

HATTIESBURG, Miss.-- The Southern Miss Cross Country team continues on the road to Fayetteville, Ark., to compete in the annual Chile Pepper Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas on Friday at 3:15 p.m.
Chile Pepper Festival
Last season the Golden Eagles claimed second place among 31 competing teams, amassing 129 points with an average time of 17:18. One of the two Golden Eagles who finished in the top 15 set a new school record.
Last Time Out
During the Southern Showcase two weeks ago, sophomore Isabela Ross emerged again as the sole top-ten finisher for the Black and Gold, securing a remarkable seventh place with a time of 16:52.30. Notably, Ross's performance set a new program record for the second-best 5K time, surpassing her own record from the previous season's Chile Pepper Festival (17:01.70). Freshman Brynn Kelso recorded a personal best time of 18:40.60 and finished 97th. Kristina Stojanovic crossed the line shortly after Kelso, securing the 100th spot and setting a new personal best time of 18:42.10. Returner Sarah Parnell claimed the 104th position at 18:46.90. Meanwhile, newcomers Kendall Drisko (19:24.00) and Sylvia White (21:13.90) achieved personal best times, finishing 147th and 237th overall. The team's collective effort led to a 12th-place finish out of 36 competing teams.
