Melich Leads Golden Eagle Charge at USA Intercollegiate

MOBILE, Ala. -- Elena Melich fired an even-par 72 to lead all Golden Eagles during the opening round of the USA Intercollegiate at Magnolia Grove in Mobile, Ala. The Southern Miss women's golf team is in fifth on the team leaderboard after Saturday's round.

Freshman Ragini Navet finished with a one-over 73 in her collegiate debut and in a tie for 16^th. The India native had a pair of birdies on the day. Momoka Ando had a solid showing, finishing with a two-over 74 in 24^th. Ando battled a couple of bogies but finished with two birdies. Alma Betoret (T34) and Taylor Trible (T34) both fired a four-over 76 on the Crossings Course.

On the individual side, Fernanda Gorostiaga led the Golden Eagles with a four-over 76 and is also in a tie for 34^th. Merche Corbacho had a five-over 77, while Jacee Fields delivered a seven-over 79.
