Mississippi College Opener Paced by Isabela Ross

CLINTON, Miss.--Sophomore Isabela Ross kick-started the 2023 Southern Miss Cross Country season Friday night, guiding the Black and Gold to a third-place showing at the Mississippi College Opener at Choctaw Trails.
In the 5k race, Ross completed the trail in 17:12.70 to secure a first-place finish, with the second-place finisher arriving more than a minute later. Freshman Brynn Kelso and Kristina Stojanovic crossed the line at 19:13.30 and 19:19.70 for a 15th place and 18th place showing for their collegiate debut. Returner Sarah Parnell finished 27th posting a time of 20:02.10.
Kendall Drisko (20:23.60) and Sylvia White (23:16.20) finished 30th and 68th overall as Southern Miss scored a third-place finish among 12 teams.Â
Up Next:Â Southern Miss will train next week before jumping back into action on Friday, Sept. 15, with the Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Ala., hosted by Jacksonville State.Â
