HATTIESBURG, Miss. – It has been fun for Southern Miss baseball over the last 10 games.
Â
Over that time, they have hit at a .330 clip with 21 home runs, 89 RBI, while the pitching staff has compiled a 3.64 earned run average, an opponent batting average of .211, to go along with 113 strikeouts and only 35 walks.
Â
Those combined numbers have translated into 10 consecutive wins for the program, the sixth time they have reached consecutive double-digit triumphs under Scott Berry since the start of the 2010 campaign. Last season, the Golden Eagles won a school-record, 15-straight games on their way to the NCAA Super Regionals.
Â
The Golden Eagles (32-15 overall, 17-7 Sun Belt) take that winning streak on the road this weekend when they travel to Monroe to play ULM (16-32, 5-18). Game times are 6 p.m., Friday, 4 p.m., Saturday, and 1 p.m., Sunday. All three games can be viewed via ESPN+, as well as heard on an affiliate of the Southern Miss Sports Network.
Â
This will be the first meeting between the two schools since the 2019 season and the first time Southern Miss has traveled to Monroe for a game since 2014. The Golden Eagles lead the all-time series, dating back to 1960, 49-19.
Â
The Golden Eagles look to stay atop the league standings, along with Coastal Carolina, as they play their final road series of the regular season.
Â
Seven Southern Miss players have hit over .300 over the last 10 games, as they have also collected 24 doubles, three triples over this span. In fact, the Golden Eagles have hit at least one home run in every game during the win streak and have their longest span of hitting at least one round-tripper since collecting 11-straight games with a homer late last season.
Â
Ten of 11 Golden Eagles that have had more than one at bat during this stretch have at least one home run, including four from the team's top long ball hitter in Slade Wilks. The junior from Columbia has a total of 18 for the season as he also leads the team in RBI with 52.
Â
Christopher Sargent enjoys the squad's longest hitting streak at 12 games, Carson Paetow is next at seven games.
Â
Following the ULM series, the Golden Eagles return home for the final weekend of the regular season when they play host to Louisiana. That series runs from next Thursday to Saturday. Â
