Beach Volleyball Set for Final Home Matches of 2023

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss returns to action for the final time at home this season with the two-day Beach Burg Invitational. The Golden Eagles will recognize three seniors prior to the final Friday match with the ceremony tentatively slated for 5:15 p.m.
Last Time Out
Southern Miss (11-11) tied the program's win record on the first day of the LSU Beach Invitational thanks to a 2-1 performance on the first day. Due to the threat of weather in the area, the Black & Gold were unable to play complete matches and lost two 3-0 decisions to No. 13 Washington and No. 5 LSU.
Previewing the Matches
The weekend's competition welcomes Central Arkansas, New Orleans and Nicholls to the Hub City with each team playing the other twice other than Central Arkansas and Nicholls, who meet just once.
Central Arkansas enters the weekend 4-9 on the year and fresh off a 1-1 weekend in Nacogdoches, Texas. The Beach Bears meet the Golden Eagles for the fourth and fifth time with Southern Miss holding a 2-1 series advantage and a two-game win streak.
In their last meeting, UCA fell to Southern Miss 4-1 in Hattiesburg on April 8, 2022.
Southern Miss meets New Orleans for the second and third time this season and ninth and 10th time overall. The Privateers (11-11, 5-3 Southland) spent last weekend alongside Southern Miss in Baton Rouge, finishing 0-4 on the weekend.
The Golden Eagles bested UNO 3-2 in Baton Rouge to tie the all-time series at 4-4.
The Nicholls Colonels enter the weekend on a 14-game losing skid, dating back to March 4. Southern Miss is 3-0 against the Colonels, taking two matches last season and all three wins over Nicholls coming in 5-0 decisions.

Senior recognition is set for 5:15 p.m. with Kellie Garraway, Hallie Phelan and Kai Norman set to recognized for their careers in the Black & Gold.
