Track & Field on the Road to Birmingham for Second Time This Season

HATTIESBURG, Miss.– The Southern Miss track and field team heads to Birmingham, Ala., for their second to last meet before conference at the CrossPlex to participate in the Jaguar Invitational hosted by South Alabama.
"This is another great opportunity to see some of our Sunbelt competition and run on our conference championship track. We need to continue building momentum as we enter the second half of the season," said head coach Jon Stuart.
After taking the last weekend off, the team is looking for strong marks headed into Championship season. There are 11 Golden Eagles who sit ranked within the top-5 in the Sun Belt of their respective event. Notably, Safiya John holds second for her record-breaking performance of 3,876 points in the Pentathlon at the Vanderbilt Invitational on Jan. 20.
Running events begin at 9:30 a.m. with the women's 5000-meter run followed by the men's, while field events begin at 11 a.m. with the men's and women's shot put.
