Women's Golf Heads to Louisiana for Tchefuncta Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss women's golf team returns to the links Monday and Tuesday as they travel to Covington, La., to tee-off in the Tchefuncta Invitational at the Tchefuncta Country Club.

The par-71, 6,044-yard course will see South Alabama, UAB, Little Rock, IUPUI, Troy, Georgia State, Toleda and Southern Miss play in the two-day event. The Golden Eagles will start play on Monday morning at 8 a.m. The second round will take place at the conclusion of Monday's first round, then the final round will be played on Tuesday.

The Golden Eagle lineup this week features Elena Melich, Fernanda Gorostiaga, Merche Corbacho, Momoka Ando and Jacee Fields. Head coach Lucy Nunn Burke is also bringing Taylor Trible to play as an individual. Melich is coming off a top-10 finish at the Tulane Classic two weeks ago as she fired a 228 over the three-day event. Ando made headway in her final two rounds in New Orleans, going back-to-back sub-75's to climb into the top-25.

Trible is making her first appearance of the spring after averaging 76.8 strokes per round last semester. Trible's best finish this season was 21^st at the Lady Red Wolves Classic.
