Men’s Golf Opens Spring Season at The Hal Williams Collegiate

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss men's golf team opens the spring portion of its 2022-23 season when they travel to Mobile, Ala., for the Hall Williams Collegiate.
The two-day, 54-hole event takes place at the par 71, 7,168-yard Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course designed by Robert Trent Jones. The Golden Eagles open with a continuous 36 holes, Monday, with an 8 a.m., shotgun start. The final 18 holes take place on Tuesday.
Of the 15-team field, the Golden Eagles are one of three squads ranked in the Top 50 national rankings by GolfStat.com. Southern Miss holds a No. 49 ranking, while Illinois brings in the top ranking of No. 5 along with No. 21 Kansas State.
The field also includes Arkansas, Davidson College, Kent State, Louisiana, Memphis, Oral Roberts, Seton Hall, host South Alabama, Texas State, Toledo, WKU and VCU.
Southern Miss will utilize the lineup of sophomore Ryan Dupuy (Baton Rouge, La.), junior Robbie Latter (Mississauga, Ontario), junior Thongpipat Rattanayanon (Bangkok, Thailand), graduate Cameron Clarke (Pittsboro, Miss.) and junior Bennett Ruby (Waterloo, Ontario).
The squad won a pair of events during the fall season and were a top four finisher in four of five events. Dupuy won the individual medalist honors in the team's last two events, while Rattanayanon won an event during the fall.
Dupuy also led the squad in stroke average over the fall at 69.80, while Clarke was second at 70.60, followed by Rattanyanaon 72.00 and Robbie Latter at 73.20.
