Markow Captures Goat Hill Title; Men's Golf Grabs Badger Invitational Lead

MADISON, Wis. — Southern Miss leads the 2026 Badger Invitational after two rounds, with Jake Moffitt holding the individual lead, while John Markow won the Goat Hill Individual Championship on Monday, finishing five ahead of teammate Grayson Davis in second.

Playing, just one town over, at Pleasant View Golf Course in Middleton, Wis., Markow won with eight-under 202 (66-65-71), five strokes ahead of teammate Grayson Davis. He entered the final round with a three-stroke lead over St. Thomas' Zach Rouleau and held on despite a one-over closing round. He finished with 14 birdies and an eagle, second in the field in birdies behind Rouleau's 15. He led the field on par 5s (-5) and par 4s (-4).

Markow's win follows Benjamin Fernandez's individual title at the JT Poston Invitational. Southern Miss last won back-to-back individual titles in 2022, with Ryan Dupuy earning them both, at the White Sands Bahamas Invitational and the Little Rock Invitational.

Davis finished second at three-under 207 (67-70-70), and Rouleau was third at two-under. Davis made six birdies in the first round, including twos on the par-3 seventh and 16th, and shot even par in each of the last two rounds.

Filip Sakota finished tied for fifth at one-over 211 (70-69-72) with South Dakota's Lance Hamak and Marquette's Regan Konen. His second-round 69 included a 2 on the par-3 13th. Walker Wise finished 25th at 17-over 227 (80-70-77).

2026 Badger Invitational

The Golden Eagles shot a five-under second round to reach 12-under, moving up two spots, to take first. Western Kentucky and South Dakota State are tied for second at 10-under, and Northern Illinois is fourth at nine-under. Host Wisconsin is sixth at seven-under. Green Bay, the first-round leader at 10-under, fell to seventh at four-under after a six-over second round.

Jake Moffitt leads the individual field at nine-under 135, two strokes ahead of Wisconsin's Joseph Gutierrez and South Dakota's Cole Witherow. He shot a four-under 68 with five birdies and one bogey, going out in 35 and coming home in 33. He birdied the par-3 eighth with a two and the par-5 ninth and 16th.

Benjamin Fernandez is tied for fourth at five-under 139 after a one-under 71. He made five birdies, including a two on the par-3 eighth, and closed with bogeys on the last two holes. He sits tied for the lead in the field on par 3s (-2).

Supakorn Amornchaichan climbed 18 spots to a tie for 21st at one-under 143 with a two-under 70. He made three birdies against one bogey and has 27 pars for the tournament, tied for third-most in the field.

Franco Fernandez is tied for 46th at three-over 147 after a two-over 74, making three birdies against five bogeys. Matthew Javier is tied for 57th at four-over 148 after a second consecutive 74. He shot 36 on the back nine with a birdie on the 10th.
