Women's Tennis Set for ITA Southern Regionals

HATTIESBURG, Miss.— The Southern Miss women's tennis team is set to embark to Baton Rouge, La., where they will participate in the ITA Southern Regional Tournament hosted by LSU.
"I am excited to see how the girls compete at the ITA regionals at LSU. We have been working hard on our game and fitness, and now it is time to compete against the best teams in the Southern Region," said head coach Engineer.
Suhana Das, Sze Xuan Lim, Alyssa Richter, Angelina Blinova, and Gabriella Danielsson will represent Southern Miss in singles and doubles competitions.
Fresh off an outstanding showing at the Women's Care Lady Demon Invitational competition in Natchitoches, Louisiana, on Sep.15, Angelina Blinova enters this competition. On Sep.15–16, she defeated Maike Tiemersma of Tyler Junior College and Elena Rubo of Lamar with sets of 6-3, 5-7, and 10-5
Senior Suhana Das is carrying momentum from her Natchitoches, La. performance earlier this season into Baton Rouge. She defeated the competition of Leah Kuruvilla of Lamar in the singles bracket, and newcomer Danielsson upset Jayci Wong of Lamar in the Orange Singles Draw in two sets, 6-2, 6-1.
The ITA Southern Regional is scheduled to commence on Oct. 5 and, depending on each athlete's performance, could extend until Oct. 10.
