
Women's Golf Primed for The Ally in West Point

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss women's golf team is heading to West Point, Miss. to play in The Ally, hosted by Mississippi State. The three-day event is being held at Old Waverly Golf Club and starts Monday morning.
Old Waverly is widely regarded as the top track in the state of Mississippi. The course is playing as a par-72 at 6,316 yards. The Golden Eagles tabbed the following five as their lineup: Elena Melich, Taylor Trible, Momoka Ando, Jacee Fields and Merche Corbacho. Freshman Ragini Navet is playing as an individual.
The 12-team field includes Florida, Indiana, James Madison, LSU, ULM, Louisville, Mercer, Mississippi State, Old Dominion, Sam Houston State, Southern Miss and Tulsa.
Southern Miss is making its first appearance at The Ally since the 2020-21 season. It's the fifth time the Golden Eagles will compete at Old Waverly. Their best finish in West Point was a tie for fifth at the Old Waverly Bulldog Classic during the 2012-13 season.
Ando is coming off a ninth-place finish at the Dale MacNamara Invitational. The Tokyo, Japan native leads the team with a 70.8 stroke average this season. Melich is averaging 73.7 strokes per round. Meanwhile, Trible is averaging 74.5 strokes per round.
Navet will be the first Golden Eagle off the tee box at 9:50 a.m. The rest will follow at 10-minute increments. All three days of action will feature 18 holes of play with pairings determined based on team finished.
