TALLAHASSEE, Fla.--The Southern Miss women's tennis team opened spring competition in Tallahassee, Fla., against Florida A&M with a 4-2 victory.
"I am happy to see the team win their season's first win. We had to adjust and adapt to playing indoors because of Florida's inclement outdoor weather conditions. Congratulations to freshman Zenn Lim for winning her opening match and clinching the team victory in singles," said head coach Piyanart Engineer.
The Black & Gold found four singles victories and one double against the Rattlers. Zenn Lim secured the win for the Golden Eagles with her defeat over Genesis Whitelock in two sets with the scores of 7-5 and 6-2 for her collegiate debut.
The Rattlers led the way winning the doubles point, but the Golden Eagles continued their series lead, winning five of the six singles matches Saturday afternoon.
