
Southern Miss Soccer Ready for Thursday Night Battle at ULM

HATTIESBURG, Miss.— The Southern Miss women's soccer team (1-4-1,1-0 Sun Belt) head to Monroe, La. for second road match against the ULM Warhawks (8-1-1,0-1 Sun Belt) at Brown Stadium.
"I am looking. Forward to our match-up against the very well-coached Warhawk team, who have been playing good soccer. We are prepared to match them in all phases of the game and demonstrate our qualities," said Head Coach Mohammed El-Zare.
Last Time on the Pitch
The Black & Gold won their first conference match-up of the season against Marshall Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Hoops Family Field in Huntington, W.Va.
There was no goal action until the 28th minute, when midfielder Ryan Smith found the game-winning goal and recorded her third career game-winning goal.
Southern Miss exited the period with a 1-0 lead.
Midfielder Bernadett Stefan found the back of the net with an assist from forward Esmeralda Figueroa at the 77th minute of action.
Marshall managed to get a foothold in the game at 82:36, but Figueroa was able to head it home with six minutes left in the match with an assist from midfielder Ilana Izquierdo, maintaining the lead 3-1 for the final.
This was the first win in Huntington, W.Va in program history.
