Southern Miss Soccer Drops Match to ULM 4-1

MONROE, La.—The Southern Miss women's soccer team (1-5-1, 1-1 Sun Belt) dropped match to ULM (9-1-1, 1-1 Sun Belt) 4-1 Thursday, Sept. 22, at Brown Stadium in Monroe, La.
The Warhawks broke into the scoring column at 26:38 when midfielder Inge Konst found the game-winning goal for ULM with an assist from midfielder Mara Grutkamp.
The Golden Eagles failed to get a foothold in the first as they ended the period behind the Warhawks 1-0.
In the 57th minute of action, ULM scored its second goal of the match with a two-goal lead; the Warhawks kept their foot on the gas.
Warhawk Grukamp found the back of the net with an assist provided by forward Eve Blakey at 67:27.
In the 82nd minute, ULM forward Courtney Marten slotted the ball into the back of the net with help from midfielder Grukamp.
With three minutes left in the match, defender Natalie Wilson put the Golden Eagles on the scoreboard and notched her first goal of the season and career with an assist from midfielder Bernadett Stefan; the scoreline read 4-1 for the final.
The Golden Eagles outshot the Warhawks 11-9 in the contest. Southern Miss totaled three shots in the first half and eight in the second. Forcing ULM goalkeeper Mickaela Leal to come up with five saves for the day.

The Golden Eagles host first conference home match against James Madison at noon Sunday, Sept. 25, at the Southern Miss Soccer Complex.
