The Black and Gold Fall to the Crimson Tide

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.— The Southern Miss women's soccer team lost 2-0 against the Alabama women's soccer team Thursday night increasing the Crimson Tides series lead to 5-1-0.
On the pitch at the three-minute mark, Alabama midfielder Macy Clem headed the ball into the net off a corner kick from midfielder Felicia Knox. This was Clem's first goal of the season.
The Black and Gold were only able to get one shot in the first half but failed to get a foothold, ending the period behind the Tide, who exited the half leading 9-1 in shots.
In the second, Alabama grabbed a shot out the top with two back-to-back corner kicks. At the 71st minute mark, Alabama defender Gessica Skorka trapped the ball to Rogers and passed it over to forward Aislin Streicek, who found the back of the net. Alabama increased their lead to 2 with the final goal of the day, and Streicek joined Clem in a first goal of the season.
Goalkeeper Kesaia Bruni dominated the match in saves with four over Alabama in the first half and in the second grabbed six more.
The Golden Eagles played tight and tough to the end, but the Crimson Tide achieved a clean sheet.
Looking ahead
The Black and Gold have their first home game on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Southern Miss Soccer Complex.
