HATTIESBURG, Miss.-- The Southern Miss women's soccer team heads to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for their second SEC season competition. They take on the Crimson Tide in the Alabama Soccer Stadium on Aug. 25 at 6 p.m. Â

The Black and Gold lost 9-0 against the Auburn Tigers at their afternoon match on Aug. 21. The Tigers kept their strong lead as Southern Miss tried to grab a foothold.Â

Series history Â
The Crimson Tide leads the series 4-1-0. The Black and Gold won that singular match 4-3 in overtime when they met in Hattiesburg on Oct. 27, 1999, at the Southern Miss Soccer Complex.  Â
Last meeting Â
The Golden Eagles and the Crimson Tide last met in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Aug. 29, 2021, as Alabama won 3-2.  Â

Head coach Wes Hart leads the Alabama women's soccer program for his fifth season.  Â
For the 2022 season, Alabama holds a 1-1 record with their 4-0 win over FAU and their 1-0 loss against Miami. Hart led the team to record its first-ever NCAA Tournament win with a 1-0 victory over Clemson last season.  Â

Ilana Izquierdo returns to the team as she spent her summer and most of August playing for the U20 Colombian Women's National Team. The squad lost to Brazil in the quarter-finals of the U20 Women's World Cup.Â
