Women’s Tennis Heads to New Orleans for Regular-Season Finale

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss women's tennis team travels to New Orleans for its regular-season finale this Wednesday. The Golden Eagles prepare for the Conference USA Championships later this month with one final nonconference matchup with the New Orleans Privateers.
The Golden Eagles (13-3, 2-1 C-USA) come off a victory in Montgomery, Ala. against the Alabama State Lady Hornets. Southern Miss completed a 4-0 sweep on the road, which included singles victories from Monique Burton, Suhana Das and Clara Tardivel.
The Black & Gold also secured the doubles point against the Lady Hornets. Das and Tardivel took care of business on court two, while Ebru Zeynep Yazgan and Alyssa Richter secured their 10th win as a pair this season.
Southern Miss holds a record of 13-3 as a program thus far this season, and a 2-1 mark in Conference USA competition. The Golden Eagles are 3-2 on the road and finished their home slate with a perfect 7-0 mark in Hattiesburg.
New Orleans enters Wednesday's matchup with an 11-8 record, including a 4-2 record in Southland Conference matches. The Privateers also hold a mark of 5-3 at the University Tennis Complex.
The Golden Eagles take on New Orleans for the first time since 2014 and hold a 3-1 record against the Privateers going back to 2010. Southern Miss last traveled to New Orleans on March 1, 2014 and defeated the Privateers 6-1.
