
Women's Golf Travels to The Volunteer State for Chattanooga Classic

HATTIESBURG, Miss. --Â For the first time this season, the Southern Miss women's golf team will head to The Volunteer State for the three-day Chattanooga Classic. The event will kick off on Sunday morning at Council Fire Golf Club with the Golden Eagles teeing off at 12:15 p.m from the first hole.
The Golden Eagles are coming off a 14th-place finish at the MountainView Collegiate where the field featured 10 teams inside the top-50 of the Golftstat.com Poll. Freshman Elena Melich rose to the occasion and placed 18thwith a career 54-hole low of 213. Her Saturday round consisted of a three-under 69 and posted even-par 72's the other two rounds. Melich leads the Golden Eagles in strokes per round at 75.05, while fellow freshman Momoka Ando is close behind at 75.44. Junior Friend Chompitakdacha is also sitting sub-76 at 75.62 strokes per round.
Council Fire Golf Club is set to play as a par-72, 6,234-yard course. The 20-team field includes Chattanooga, Central Arkansas, Colorado State, ECU, ETSU, FAU, FIU, Indiana, Iowa, James Madison, Middle Tennessee, Murray State, North Florida, Old Dominion, Samford, South Florida, Southern Miss, UTSA, Wisconsin and Yale. North Floridia is tops of the field at No. 54 in the most recent Golftstat.com Poll.
Southern Miss' lineup is as follows: Elena Melich, Momoka Ando, Friend Chompitakdacha, Merche Corbacho and Tenley Moretti. Senior Tenley Moretti returns to the lineup for the first time since the Mercer Invitational in November. Merche Corbacho also returns to the lineup after missing the MountainView Collegiate last weekend.
