Southern Miss Track and Field Opens Outdoor Season at Texas Relays and Bulldog Relays

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss track and field starts the 2022 outdoor season at two meets this weekend, splitting duties at the 94th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays presented by Truist at the University of Texas, and at the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays hosted by Mississippi State.
"We're excited to get the outdoor season started," said head coach Jon Stuart. "We'll face some stiff competition at both meets that will challenge us right out of the gate to open the season. We're coming off some momentum in the indoor season, and I'm looking forward to seeing that hopefully translate to outdoor competition."
The Golden Eagles send five males and three females to the Texas Relays, with Cardet Bienvenue, Elijah Burton, Elijah Miller and Lamont Moss competing in the 4x100m relay on Friday morning, while NCAA Indoor High Jump Runner-up Corvell Todd begins his outdoor campaign on Saturday afternoon to round out the men's side. On the women's side, Trinity Benson and Trinity Flagler will compete in the 100m on Friday morning, and Marquasha Myers takes part in the triple jump and 100m hurdles.
Prime Time Timing will provide live results for the Texas Relays.
The rest of the Southern Miss team heads to Starkville to compete in the Bulldog Relays, with 32 student-athletes set to compete over the three day meet with the men's and women's hammer throw opening the competition on Thursday. Friday's field events will begin at noon with the women's discus throw, while the women's 400m dash will begin the running events for the Golden Eagles at 3:45 p.m. On Saturday, the javelin will kick off the field events once again at noon, while action on the track will start at 12:20 with the 1500m run.
