Women’s Tennis Travels to Starkville to face Mississippi State

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss women's tennis team travels to Starkville, Miss. to take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday, Feb. 26. The Golden Eagles look to remain undefeated in their second road matchup of the 2022 season against an in-state foe.
The Black & Gold last took on UTSA and Northwestern State in a pair of matches last weekend in Louisiana. The Golden Eagles swept the Roadrunners, 4-0 in their first Conference USA matchup of the season, prior to a 4-1 decision over the Lady Demons to improve to 6-0 on the season.
Southern Miss takes on Mississippi State for the second-consecutive season and looks to pick up the first win against the Bulldogs in program history. Mississippi State knocked off the Golden Eagles in a 7-0 decision last season in Starkville.
The Golden Eagles have been strong both at home and away from Hattiesburg this season, and take a record of 3-0 on the road and in neutral-site contests into Saturday's match. Southern Miss has outscored opponents, 12-3 in its last three matches, all on the road.
The Bulldogs enter Saturday's contest following an 0-2 stint last weekend, dropping a pair of 4-3 contests to Texas opponents, SMU and Baylor. Mississippi State holds a record of 5-0 in the confines of the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre.
