Lady Eagles head to Texas for battle with UTSA

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss women's basketball team treks to San Antonio to face UTSA for the second time in less than two weeks squaring off tomorrow night at 7 p.m. from the Convocation Center. Southern Miss picked up a 60-57 overtime win on Feb. 7 when the two first met.

Scouting the Roadrunners
• Nevada transfer Lapraisjah Johnson and Lamar transfer Jadyn Pimentel continue to lead UTSA. Pimentel currently leads the team averaging 8.7 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. She also leads the conference in steals with 67. Johnson is right behind with 8.3 points per game and 4.2 rebounds per game.
• Karen Aston, the 2017 Big 12 Coach of the Year and a finalist for Naismith National Coach of the Year honors, was named the 10th women's basketball head coach in UTSA history. Aston has a career record of 290-164 which includes head coaching positions at Charlotte, North Texas and Texas.
A Southern Miss Win Would...
• Keep Southern Miss at the top of the western division in Conference USA.
• Give USM their 11th-straight win over UTSA.
• Push the Lady Eagles above .500 on the road.
Southern Miss – UTSA Series
• Southern Miss and UTSA have battled 14 times, with the Lady Eagles picking up an overtime win against the Roadrunners just 10 days ago.
• Two of the four games in the series at the Convocation Center have been decided by two points or less.
• The Black and Gold have dominated the series dating back to 2014 falling just once.

USM 60 - UTSA 57 (OT)
• A layup from Kelsey Jones with 3.3 seconds remaining in overtime propelled the Lady Eagle basketball team over the UTSA Roadrunners by a score of 60-57. Southern Miss picked up its 15th win of the season and improved to 10-2 at Reed Green Coliseum.
• Domonique Davis recorded her 13th-straight double-digit scoring performance and was one of four Lady Eagles to finish the contest in double-figures. Davis (12), Melyia Grayson (12), Destiny Smith (10) and Jones (10) led Southern Miss offensively, as the Black & Gold picked up its fourth-straight win.
