Women’s Tennis to Take On Sam Houston in Louisiana

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Golden Eagle women's tennis team heads to Thibodaux, La. for a neutral site contest against Sam Houston on Sunday, Feb. 13 at 10 a.m. Southern Miss hits the road for the first time in 2022 following three successful home matches to open the season.
Southern Miss last took the court on Feb. 11 in a thrilling 4-3 victory over Chattanooga. The Golden Eagles recovered from a lost doubles point, rattling off four singles wins to pick up their 26th-straight home win.
Ebru Zeynep Yazgan picked up a two-set win on court 1, while Sarah Medik took care of business on court two in a tight three-set contest. Clara Tardivel and Suhana Das clinched the win for Southern Miss with the final two points for the Golden Eagles.
The Golden Eagles challenges themselves with a matchup away from the comfortable confines of the Southern Miss Tennis Complex for the first time this season, as Nicholls hosts the neutral site match against Sam Houston.
Southern Miss will look to improve upon its 0-2 record in neutral site contests from 2021, as the Golden Eagles take on Sam Houston for the first time since 2008. The Black & Gold defeated the Bearkats in a dominant 6-1 decision, but have yet to play Sam Houston since. Head coach Steve Schram faces off with the squad from Huntsville, Texas for the first time.
