Women's Tennis Finishes Up Day One of the Ragin' Cajun Invitational

LAFAYETTE, La.-- The Southern Miss women's tennis makes their mark on day one of the Ragin' Cajun Invitational in Lafayette, La, in singles and doubles for their last fall competition.
"The team competed well today, and I am happy to see Maddison fight her way into the finals.
Both the doubles teams made the semifinals, and it should be a good day for the Golden Eagles tomorrow," said head coach Piyanart Engineer.
Returner Suhana Das fell to Didi Bredberg Canizares of UNO to open the morning with the scores of 7-6 (5) 6-2 but overcame Louisiana opponent Lucie Raquin.
Sophomore Clara Tardivel dropped her match 2-6, 3-6 to Alessandra Anghel of ULM but was able to find a victory over Louisiana opponent Momoko Yoshimura.
Hannah Chambers was defeated in her singles matches for the day against Tulane opponents; newcomer Ricardo was able to notch two victories over Tiana Fox of Mcneese with the scores of 6-4, 6-1, and New Orleans opponent Raluca Puscas with 6-3,1-6, (9).
The squad was victorious in doubles competitions when Das and Tardivel overcame Anghel and Oleksandra Balaba of ULM 6-3; followed by Chambers and Ricardo finding their win over New Orleans opponents Kateryna Kalistratova and Audelia Morin Koughoucheff with the score of 6-1.
