Evans Sets School Record in 600m at Blazer Invite

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – In the opening meet of the 2022 season, junior Dylan Evans bested his own school record with a personal-best of 1:22.21 to propel the Southern Miss track and field team on Friday at the Blazer Invite at the Birmingham CrossPlex. "We had a little bit of good, a little bit of bad and a lot of in between to start the season," said head coach Jon Stuart. "We got personal bests from a number of our student-athletes, with plenty of room for improvement from the rest of the team. It was great to get the season going, and we're headed in the right direction." Southern Miss had a pair of podium performances as Marquasha Myers and Oliwia Wawrzyniak both earned second in their events. Myers matched a personal best for indoor with a lead of 39'10", while Wawrzyniak ran the second-best freshman time in the 3,000m, crossing the line in 9:50.23.
