JACKSONVILLE, Ala. -- The road remained no match for Southern Miss Women's Tennis, which rolled to a 4-1 victory at Jacksonville State on Saturday.
"It's not easy to win on the road, and for our team to step up and do it back-to-back matches says a lot about their will," head coach Steve Schram said. "We will enjoy it for a bit, but we have two good C-USA opponents coming to us next weekend."
The Golden Eagles (5-2) captured the doubles point, which was also one of the Gamecocks' strengths coming in. From there, Katia de la Garza, Ebru Zeynep Yazgan and Stephanie Booth were able to sweep on Nos. 1, 4 and 6, respectively.
Yazgan is now a team-best 6-1 in singles, while de la Garza is now 3-1 on No. 1. Booth moved to 5-2.
Next up for the Black and Gold are home matchups with UAB (Friday) and Louisiana Tech (Sunday).
