BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Julie Baker carded a 2-over 74, her lowest of the season, as Southern Miss Women's Golf finished play Tuesday at the FAU Paradise Invitational.
Baker also improved her score each day of the tournament to finish in a tie for 48th. Friend Chompitakdacha and Merche Corbacho were the team's top performers, coming in tied for No. 29 and 36, respectively. Corbacho had three birdies, while Baker had a pair.
Chompitakdacha, playing her first tournament since last February, has finished in the top-30 in six of her last seven events.
"Despite our tough finish today and big numbers throughout the week, we saw a lot of good from this group," head coach Lucy Burke said. "The work we are putting in at home is starting to translate in tournaments, so we are excited for our quick turnaround to Mercer next week."
Michigan State won the team title with a 6-under 858, while Maryland's Virunpat Olankitkunachai captured the individual crown with three, sub-70 rounds for an 11-under 205.
The Golden Eagles next return to action in their first weekend tournament of the year, the Lake Oconee Invitational in Greensboro, Ga., from Feb. 19-21.
