GREENSBORO, Ga. -- Friend Chompitakdacha finished in a tie for 20th, the second top-20 finish of her career, to lead the Golden Eagles in the final day of the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational.
It marked the junior's best finish since the Lady Paladin Invitational in Fall 2019 (tied for 12th), as well as her fifth top-25 ranking (all that season). Her 3-over 75 matched Merche Corbacho's third-round score as the team's best of the weekend. Corbacho was the second-best performer, finishing in a tie for 49th with a 22-over 238, that included a team weekend-high four birdies in the final frame.
The Golden Eagles improved their score by 24 strokes from Friday's opening round, including by nine Sunday, to finish 14th. It also serves as the third time in the team's five tournaments it improved its score in each succeeding round.
Southern Miss will now have a fair amount of time off till its next tournament, the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate, from March 14-16 in New Orleans.
