Baseball Players Enjoying Summer League Opportunities (Updated)

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Sixteen Southern Miss players, including 11 returners and five players set to join the program in 2021, are taking advantage of the return of baseball this summer by competing in collegiate leagues.
While most of the opportunities will be closer to home this summer, the players will get a chance to improve their skills in four different leagues, which are all slated to get started this week.
Ben Ethridge (Collinsville, Miss.), Aubrey Gillentine (Amory, Miss.), Andrew Stanley (Searcy, Ark.) and signee Will Tynes (Bossier City, La.) are participating in the Honor the Game Wood Bat Collegiate League.
Signees Tanner Hall (Zachary, La.) and Justin Storm (Madison, Miss.) play in the Southeast Collegiate League, while seven more Golden Eagles are improving their talents in the Deep South Collegiate League. Those players include signees Reece Ewing (Mobile, Ala.) and Garrett Ramsey (Brandon, Miss.), along with returners Gabe Montenegro (Guatemala City, Guatemala), Fisher Norris (Seminary, Miss.), Tyler Spring (Wiggins, Miss.), Hunter Stanley (Hammond, La.) and Reed Trimble (Brandon, Miss.).
Three more players, Matt Adams (Pearland, Texas), Chandler Best (Mobile, Ala.) and Billy Garrity (Sumrall, Miss.), are playing for the Acadiana Cane Cutters of the Texas Collegiate League, whose schedule began Tuesday night.
