HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss (8-1, 1-0 C-USA) Women's Tennis team extended its winning streak to three games after defeating Alcorn State (1-12, 1-2 SWAC) on Saturday morning. The doubles win was the ninth of the season for the Golden Eagles, who have yet to drop a doubles point in nine attempts. Sarah Medik and Monique Burton added a 6-2 win over Stefany Grlj and Alessandra Maganuco at the top doubles position.
Monique Burton quickly picked up a win at No. 6 singles after the Lady Braves had to forfeit at the position. Ebru Zeynep Yazgan added a 6-0, 6-0 win against Ievleva on court three to put the Golden Eagles up 3-0. Freshman Jeanne Gearity notched her second win of the season after defeating Olecia James on court five. The 6-0, 6-0 win gave the Golden Eagles their eighth win of the season.
