WEST POINT, Miss. -- The Southern Miss women's golf team improved its score in each round and finished in the No. 15 spot at The Ally at Old Waverly Golf Club.
"This was a huge learning opportunity for us, and through the struggles I know we are going to be better prepared for the rest of this semester and into spring," head coach Lucy Burke said.
The Golden Eagles were the only non-SEC team in the field. Freshman Merche Corbacho finished as the team's top performer (for the second-straight week) with a 13-over 229 that put her at 58th. She and Julie Baker had three birdies apiece for the day.
South Carolina's Pauline Roussin-Bouchard won the individual title by seven strokes with a 14-under 202, and the Gamecocks won the team championship as well.
Southern Miss will have a few weeks off before finishing the fall with the two-day Mercer Invitational that begins Nov. 9.
