HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss women's soccer team (2-3-0) will host in-state SWAC opponent Mississippi Valley State (1-1-1) at the Southern Miss Soccer Complex on Sunday, September 8 at 4:00 p.m. (CT).
The last time out
The last time that Southern Miss took the pitch, they came away with a 1-0 victory over Sun Belt juggernaut South Alabama on Thursday night (September, 5) in Hattiesburg.
The match was a highly competitive 90 minute battle between both teams that presented minimal scoring opportunities.
Southern Miss capitalized on an opportunity that came at the 19:04 mark when redshirt junior forward Hailey Pohevitz found the back of the net on an assist from junior forward Ariel Diaz.
Pohevitz's first half goal would eventually prove to be the difference in the match, leading the Golden Eagles to a 1-0 victory in what was their home opener of the 2019 season.
